When you've lived, worked and practiced in the same area for almost four decades, you're not just located there--you have roots in the community. At Muth Law, we love being a part of Washtenaw County and Ann Arbor, and we enjoy giving back wherever we can.
Andy was a member of the board of directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washtenaw County for nearly a decade. His first experience with Big Brothers was in 1976 when he first became a big brother for a boy in Washtenaw County (the boy is now 50 years old and still a friend!)
Big Brothers Big Sisters provides a match between adults willing to spend time with kids from single family homes. If you would like more information about them, please go to their website.
Andy is also a past president of the Washtenaw County Bar Association. During his year as president, the Bar Association sponsored and built a Habitat for Humanity House. He is presently chair of the bar's Public Service Committee. The Public Service Committee has a number of activities, including landscaping some of the low cost housing units of Avalon Housing yearly, teaching in the Ann Arbor Public Schools to Middle School students on Constitution Day, collecting money and goods to send to our troops in Iraq.
The firm also supports a variety of charities in Washtenaw County, including the C. Robert Arvin Foundation, Mott Children's Hospital, the Ypsilanti Independence Day Parade, Brain Injury Association of Michigan, The Women's Center of Southeastern Michigan, University of Michigan Ginsberg Center ASB (alternative spring break). Ben Muth participates in local government by serving on two City of Ann Arbor committees. First, Ben is the Chairman of the Elizabeth Dean Trust Fund Committee, which oversees a $2 million dollar trust established to plant and maintain trees in the City. Ben has championed causes on the committee to plant trees near schools and get children involved in the planting. Believing that education is the key to a better future, Ben cherishes his Dean Fund work. Second, Ben is a commissioner on the City of Ann Arbor Environmental Commission, giving recommendations to City Council on matters affecting the environment.
