Elon Musk is in the headlines quite a bit these days. Musk, although controversial at times, has revolutionized the electronic vehicle industry with his company Tesla. The controversial entrepreneur recently announced that his brain chip company Neuralink will give a live demonstration of its AI-enabled microchip technology. The hope is that this technology can one day help treat neurological conditions, such as brain injuries that are a common result of serious car accidents in Michigan and elsewhere.
According to reports, Neuralink’s new tech has two main components. The first component is the actual microchip. The chip will be connected to electrodes that would be implanted in an individual’s brain. The second component is an insertion device similar to a sewing machine which would surgically implant the electrodes. The microchip would sit behind the person’s ear and have wires that would fan out and connect to the implanted electrodes, according to Neuralink.
Apparently, the electrodes will be able to stimulate neurons in the brain and record brain activity. Musk claims that the process will eventually be as easy and efficient as a LASIK eye procedure. He has also speculated about the potential applications of this technology. Short-term, the technology could be used to treat brain injury and trauma. Longer-term, it could be used to treat complex conditions like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, Musk claimed.
Without a doubt, the potential of this technology defies imagination. This is an example of the great progress being made in treating serious and traumatic brain injuries. Traumatic brain injuries are some of the most common and serious consequences of car accidents. Any individual in Michigan who suffers a brain injury or any other injury due to the negligence of another party in an accident has the right to pursue damages, and the best place to start is by contacting a seasoned attorney.
